The nine-bay layout

Huatulco International Airport is the natural arrival point for this part of the coast. Driving time depends on the specific hotel zone, so a booking labeled simply 'Huatulco' is not enough for precise transportation planning: provide the exact hotel or neighborhood.
Combining Huatulco with Puerto Escondido
Puerto Escondido and Huatulco offer very different trips: Puerto Escondido is more surf-town and neighborhood-driven; Huatulco is more bay/resort oriented. They can be combined by road, but the transfer should be treated as an intercity move rather than a quick local taxi ride.
Best time to visit
The dry season generally offers more predictable beach weather, while the rainy season brings greener scenery and more variable road and ocean conditions. For any marine activity, same-day sea conditions matter more than the month alone.
