Payment methods

The source page recorded cash and common Mexican electronic toll tags such as IAVE, TELEVIA, PASE, VIAPASS and EASYTRIP. Carrying cash is still prudent in case an electronic lane or tag system is unavailable.

The toll-free alternative

Federal Route 175 through Miahuatlán, San José del Pacífico, Pochutla and Puerto Ángel has no toll plazas, but the trip is typically around 5–7 hours rather than 2.5–3 hours on the toll highway. It is a winding mountain route and is mainly useful if the toll road closes, you intentionally want the mountain route, or you are stopping in San José del Pacífico.

Tariffs change

The source page recorded an increase from MXN 234 to MXN 245 per car at each plaza on April 13, 2026. Treat the amount above as a dated reference, not a permanent tariff. CAPUFE is the appropriate source for the rate in effect on your travel date.
